2 Day Monoprinting Workshop, suitable for beginners onwards.

Monoprinting is an exciting technique that can be used to create spontaneous and highly individual prints. This weekend workshop will cover several different monoprinting techniques with the aim of introducing participants to the creative potential of this versatile medium.

2 Day Drypoint Workshop, beginners and intermediates.

Date: 11 + 12 March 2017

Time: 11am – 5pm (45mins for lunch – not supplied)

Cost: €125 per person including materials

Drypoint printmaking combines drawing and printmaking to produce prints which can be figurative or abstract, loosely expressive or highly detailed. In this workshop, participants will learn how to create stunning drypoint prints, irrespective of their drawing ability, using basic materials. The workshop will also cover inking techniques, chine colle and monoprinting to produce collaged, multi-coloured, captivating prints.

2 Day Screen Printing Workshop, suitable for beginners onwards.

Date: 18 + 19 March 2017

Time: 10am – 4:30pm (30 mins for lunch – not supplied)

Cost: €100 per day but it’s recommended that you attend both days to fully cover the course. Materials Included.

Learn from scratch how to explore the creative possibilities of this colourful, graphic and immediate approach to making repeat prints popularised by Andy Warhol in the 60s. Blackstack Studio is organizing a water-based screen printing workshop for beginners. Participants will learn the basic methods required in screen printing: how to prepare and process screens, how to produce screen prints from black-white imagery or hand drawn imagery, print a small edition and cleaning screens after use. The workshop will cover photo-stencilling, the use of various materials which produce different effects on a transparent overlay such as acetate, tracing paper, or oiled paper that will be exposed over an emulsion-coated screen with an ultraviolet light. Colour layering and registration will be covered. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and is also an opportunity for more experienced participants to expand their existing art skills. * To further develop a more comprehensive skills base in screen printing techniques enrolment on advanced courses is recommended.

4 Week Lino Cut Workshop, suitable for complete beginners.

Tutor: Nadia Cullinane

Dates: 25 March, 01 + 08 + 15 April 2017

Time: 10am – 12pm

Cost: €160 per person including materials

We will explore block preparation, designing and transferring your image, carving techniques and tools, paper handling and printing. Printing both with and without the use of a press will also be included. Come along with an image, sketch or idea that you’d like to explore. You will be taken through a series of exercises on mark-making to progress your own original piece of art to print in your final week. No experience necessary.

* All workshops can take a maximum of 4 participants, but require a minimum of 2 participants to go ahead.

* All materials are covered by the cost.

* A non-refundable deposit of €50 is required to hold your place. However, your deposit will be returned in full if the workshop doesn’t go ahead.

* Tea and coffee making facilities are available throughout the day. For those who wish to bring a packed lunch the kitchen is supplied with a microwave and there are various cafe and sandwich shops close by.
