Dawn West

I am primarily a printmaker but also work with photography, drawing and video with the occasional foray in the world of zines.

As an impatient printmaker, I use mainly drypoint, collograph, etching and monoprint techniques. I am influenced by Arte Povera in the choice of materials and like to work with electrical tape, thread and cardboard and other cheap, readily available materials.

In my work, I am drawn to imperfection, ephemerality and incompleteness. I try to maintain a sense of enquiry and wonder about life and reflect this in my work. I am interested in Remodernism for its attempt to reintroduce a sense of the spiritual into art and hope that my work reminds or reconnects the viewer with this inner life.
